Hyper Hyper!
I am extrelmely hyper the past two weeks. Although it is extremely busy, we have only three people running the office, we have a conference in two days and still a lot of random time-consuming crap that we have to deal with, but I enjoy it like never before. And it's all in moments... having a 3-people MC meeting and seeing that NatCo is falling into place so well... externals confirmed, official dinner agenda done, solutions to problems solved... some informal chats and really feeling the agreeement between all of us. Super great feeling!
Also nice things as Review Board and a drink with long-time-not-seen interns... a student organisation fair to meet new people... Hosting LC trainings in teh MC office and seeing some of those incredible people that are always nice to talk with... Talking to Amritha and Padro about their experiences in Cameroon... it just goes so well :) And even some kind of issues, like my four hour work on one document dissapearing from my computer, don't disturb me at all. Yeh, well, I sleep a bit less, but I will make sure I catch up with it next week.. I love my job.
Plus, I am flying over to Lithuania for a bit more than a week on 23d of April. ITC for friends and seeing relatives.
love you all...
Weekends!
Yes! So nice to have a relaxing weekend!
Relaxing - means that my head is free from work. that doesn't mean I don't keep myself busy :) Rasa had a friend's visit, and we decided to do a small discovery of Belgium - visiting teh town of Dinant. It was absolutely fabulous, something I've never seen in Belgium. Really interesting architecture, and the Citadel was really worth seeing. And, what is more, nature is very easily accessible over there - the town is more or less in the forest. very very nice, reminds me of the bank of Neris river next to my home in Vilnius. Nice feeling of tranquility. make sure you check the pictures (link on the right), some sights look like paintings to me!
And we didn't stop after Dinant. In the evening we decided to go for an adventure: it all started with a bit of wine and snacks, and ended up in a train to Antwerp late at night, finding the best club over there, and partying all night long till the first trains back to Brussels. Thanks to a consultation of a local person, it was really the best place -
Cafe D'Anvers is a place you really have to go to when you're in Antwerp. And I could say that female crowd really tends to receive a lot of attention :)
Trip back to Brussels was very interesting, including sudden wake-ups by the train staff and orders to change trains and other stuff. I didn't really care, was too tired to complain.
Sunday sleep in, Almante had to leave to the airport early, but me, Rasa and her colleague met up in teh afternoon to see the one and only Atomium, which is still one of the greatest architectural creatons I've ever seen. Even though it's built for the same reason as Eiffel Tower in Paris (expo), I still think that Atomium is more fascinating building. It really makes me think of universe when I see it. The inside, however, was not completely finished, so not that impressive as outside, but it was still a good fun to see the history how it was built, see the pictures of little people repairing the roof on the top of the balls, and teh whole spaceship-like installation.
I will definitely upload some pictures in coming days.
I love my weekends so much!

EuroLDS 2006
Yes, finally I have some time to overview this great event. I won't get into technical details of me being MC responsible and all the things and effort that took the oc team to organize this huge event - let's leave it for the report. It is just my personal point of view, my personal mosaic of memories...
It all began with Lithuanian, Russian, Mexican and part of Japanese delegations staying over at the MC house, having a Lithuanian and Mexican roll call rehearsals and a nice Get To Know with Lithuanian drinks. Was very nice to catch up with news in my home country, also enjoy abusing the top phrase
'we have time' throughout all night. Good fun, all I can say.
Conference itself was crazy... Did you know, that this was the confernce of my dreams since I'm a newie, but I never got to go there?.. so finally. Not as delegate, as I am a bit off the profile, but still, it is something special for me. 250 people, incredible faci team, very well bonded oc, some people I got to know and other things made it special for me. The delegates were happy, facilitators were crying from happyness at the end, and I was happy to see this project succeed.
Pictures would really speak for themselves.. it's just I am lost in the huge pile of them. but I will keep on uploading some at a time...
EuroLDS 2006 started!
I am at the site that has Internet! Great! First day was full of many things, and more things to come; OC is working very hard, and delegates and facis seem to be ready for making this conference great. I believe it will be, and I have to go:)

Musicroom: Christian Walz - Wonderchild
Let me love you,
Let me be around,
I promise you, I won't make a sound
Cause the wind is blowing hard you see,
we take a ride just you and me..
Let's go down to the south of France
where we can love I think there is a chance,
Go down for the holiday to live those happy thoughts again...
I'm gonna run at the speed of sound,
Ooh, ooh wonder child,
I'm gonna bring it to the underground,
How many times will it ride?
How we gonna walk at the rainbow stairs
Ooh, ooh wonder child,
Oooh wonder child,
Every thing comes to an end,
I get to you at the speed of sound,
Really fast when you're on the run,
Cause the world is closing in on us,
A second later we on the bus,
You're so fine and i love u so
So beautiful but I have to know, is it real or is it just a game?!
Take a ride we'll come back the same,
I'm gonna run at the speed of sound,
Ooh, ooh wonder child,
I'm gonna bring it to the underground,
How many times will it ride?
How we gonna walk at the rainbow stairs
Ooh, ooh wonder child,
Oooh wonder child,
Every thing comes to an end,
And if I could be with you, (ooh)
I keep on wonder why,
If this whole escapade
Is it worth all this time,
And if I could be with you,
I keep on wonder why,
If this whole escapade,
Is it worth all (ooh, ooh),
(one, two, one, two) (bring it back)
I'm gonna run at the speed of sound,
Ooh, ooh wonder child,
I'm gonna bring it to the underground,
How many times will it ride?
How we gonna walk at the rainbow stairs
Ooh, ooh wonder child,
Oooh wonder child,
Every thing comes to an end!
If I could be with you,
I keep on wonder why,
If this whole escapade?!
Is it worth all this life
And If I could be with you I keep on wonder why, If this whole escapade
Ooh, ooh wonder child
Every thing comes to an end!
ER stories: Netherlands... and something from the past
Last week I got to got to go to the Netherlands for the second time. This time for a meeting. Special one, coz - 1. it was in the Netherlands with a Dutch AIESEC member, forst time a multi-country meeting that i run. 2. The company was super super cool. Before leaving I was checking their website and almost got tempted to send my CV :)
I won't get too deep into the details of the meeting, in fact Wouter, teh Dutch guy I was goingt o the meeting with, was very good in figuring out the logistics to teh office, and the meeting went smoothly. What was the most unique is that I our bus back to the station was going
every hour...And, of course, we had to wait for almost 40 minutes for it. I got to try hitch hiking in The Netharlands, however, Dutch people don't understand the concept of giving a ride to random people on the road.
When I think about it, I had some kind of situation when I was still in Lithuania, when we also had a meeting in an industrial section just outside Vilnius. The company boss was highly surprised that we are not having a car and I had to twist the conversation so that we came by taxi, and we now want to catch any form of transportation... Some companies don't understand the concept of going to company meetings by public transportation... of course, when teh office is in teh middle of nowhere. Anyway, that time we got a ride very easily :) And it was sooo much fun, it was summer and we both were wearing formals and and were followed by surprised looks :) And got a good start of the conversation, when you already get a ride :) So that time in Lithuania we got a funny dude taking us with his sports car :)
That was back home, but it is different when you are an international in a different country. Once I had to go to the meeting in one Belgian province (called
The Limburg :) ) The logistics to that place was also quite challenging :) I had to take a train to Geel (name of the town which doesn't say anything), and then a bus to Laakdal (also doesn't say anything). Even the drivers didn't have a clue where is the address I am looking for, and
maporama.com map is out of date (marks a train station which doesn't exist). The only good thing is that everyone is so excited to see a foreigner in those rural areas, and everybody is very nice and helpful. And, as the company is big enough to have a street name under it's name, i finally got there :) And what I love about my job, is that sometimes peopel you meet in the company are kind enough to give you a ride to teh nearest train station :)
Summer is coming...
... I realized it from the Ice-Cream van melody in our neighborhood, a cheezy and weird sounding music that you cannot mix with anything else :) It's playing since last Saturday.
IPM for 2 hours
Many people think I was crazy, and I think myself that it was quite and adventurous thing to do, but I decided to take my chance and go to Amsterdam at least for a short while, just to see the people, say hi and chat a bit.
The adventure started in teh evry beginnning when in teh mroning I still ahd to go to the pffice and sort out one company meeting, then rushing to the station, buying a wrong ticket and nearly making it to the train. Luckily, I was able to persuade the guy that the ticket I bought was a mistake and I still paid the money, he said okay.
But trip wa slonger than expected. The train stopped an Den Haag, and it was announced that we have to get off, it's not going further. We got off, I was looking for any further instructions and ran into Bram from the Dutch MC, and the rest of the guys from Dutch MC after two more seconds. They waere taking the same train, so I joined them, it was good fun. We spent time eating Dutch sweets and watching a funny TV show where AIESEC is shown, and finding out that we have to change trains again....
So after the second change we finally ended up in Amsterdam. The place of the Global Village was HUGE!!! And there were soo many people!!
As delegates were a bit late, I had like only 2 hours to really interact with them, so I was crazingly catching one or other delegation, having quick but efficient achts and taking
pictures with them. Guys, was very very nice to see you all, event those short moments were super!
At any case, it was short but fun. Then rushing back to the train, which got cancelled (again!), waiting for another one and going to Review Board of Antwerp which also went well.
Later night again, seems like this week is busy as hell and full of trips. My Go Pass (a train tickets for 10 times) is nearly over.
