First days in India!!!
Hey!
Finally I have got a chance to access internet here ;) and not just internet - in the hotel that we are staying there is a whole internet cafe installed just for the congress. It is air conditioned ans they even play a very good lounge music - just perfect! Goda, I am sure you would like it ;)
Anyways, I have a couple of minutes before the session to update how things are with me. We got to India very nicely, no problems with flight, pickup or anything else. India was a shok for all of us, as from the check out in the airport you are met by terrible heat (30 degrees at 11pm), millions of people running chaoticly, all teh cars vaulting in the streets and many other things. Everything looked really disorganised, but eventually there was no problem in anything - we were brought to hotel by taxi, all the people around are were very helpful, and the congress organisers as well.
besides the heat, food is also differentm very spicy, but i think i am getting used to that. Basically every day I am experiencing something new about Indian culture.
Now we are enjoying the first days of the conference, it has been very good so far. I cannot explain the amazing feeling of meeting the fabulous people of AIESEC from all over the world!
The congress is filmed, you can check it at
http://www.ic2005india.org/ . I have to go now, but promise to write more at some point!
6 hours 'till departure
Today was a fascinating day :) Kevin got a Turkish-like haircut and bought food that is made in Turkey ;) Nobody in our section of the city was surprised:) But the MC team for sure was :)
Anyways, seems like we are prepared for everything tha can happen at IC :) We are packed, have a roll call and everything else... except ... we're not ready for getting up early enough to be on time for 7 a.m. airplane. But I'm sure we'll manage ;)
asta la vista, talk to you later;) India awaits :)
Week's update before leaving to India
Here is a short update about the past week:
Tuesday, Niek's farewell dinner. Seeing nice people, saying bye to Niek, an ex-trainee in Brussels, continuing his trainee experience in one of the multinationals in China.
Wednesday, Vicky's farewell party at the MC house. Lots of fun, laugh and music. Not much to say, when you see the pictures, you will understand :)
Thursday, trainee drink, as always nice and easy :)
Friday, Vicky leaves back to the UK. Last pictures, last goodbyes and promises to come back. I have no person to chat with before going to bed, or tell me how do I look in the morning :( Vicky, we have already missed you!
Saturday - my teammate Elie has
exchanged wedding rings with his fiance Annelies. It was wonderfull wedding and I wish those guys all the best in their lives!
All the week generally - a hell of preparation for an international conference. In two days the whole AIESEC in Belgium team leaves for International Congress in India. We'll be back on 10th of September. I am so excited about that, you have no idea!!! If I have any time, I'll send some posts during my stay there, if not - come back later to check;)

May my first post is those eyes-wide-open vegetables :) They are caught here watching one of the stages of
Marktrock, a festival in Leuven on 13-15th of August. Me, my 'sisters' Vicky (CEEDer from UK) and Amritha (my teammate from India) and Fadey (trainee from Indonesia) went there on Saturday and Monday, and had a great great fun.
Some highlights:
... getting lost in Leuven. Before the festival we were going to visit a trainee's named
Ondra place, where he and his roommate had a BBQ party. Do you think it is easy to find their place in Leuven? Yeah, right ;) Leuven is small, but suddenly it becomes big and complicated when every single person you as for the way, gives you the opposite directions :) I guess after sixth person asked we ran out of patience and still had a hope to taste some BBQ meat, we called Ondra and he picked us up :) BBQ was lots of fun, many nice people in a nice terrace, with nice and good food and drinks. Pictures will be uploaded soon;)
... First Day of Festival, Main Stage. BBQ was so much fun, that we didn't make it to the very beginning, but we got to the best part :) It started with Estelle, a new star from the UK, I knew only one song of hers, but the whole show was impressive! That girls knows how to talk with public:) After that there was a classical Human League, which sounded exactly teh same way as they did back in 80's-90's. Vaya Con Dios, Belgian starts who reunited just a short while ago, where awesome, starting with new sonngs, ending with good old 'Neh nah nah nah'. Finally, Texas, they were on the top! Sharlene Spiteri is sooo dynamic on the stage! All the best songs were payed and sung together with the crowd... 'I don't want a lover, I just need a friend.... ' or 'Here comes the summer sun, it burns my skin...' or 'You can say what you want, but it won't change my mind, I feel the same, about you....' or ... all the others :) The rain and cold didn't matter, stage was on fire!
... Third Day, all the stages. Vicky and Amritha decided to go see Beverli Knight and Craug David on the main stage, and I hung around all the other stages to check the music and public over here. Public is really really interesting - I had my camera handy and was shooting the variety of it - from 5-year to 65-year olds, from flashy colorful clothing to black-dressed punks and goths (
i'll upload some pix of them esp for some of my friends back in my country:) ). Music - the same - r'n'b, techno, a'la Manu Chao, punk, rock, electro, anything! I've also accidentaly met trainees - Ondra, Jason, Dy and Diego, and they were lot of fun, esp Ondra fascinated by Bird (singer from UK) - you should have seen his face, and Jason randomly bringing hip-hop rhymes together ('I wanna eat, do you know what I mean?').
... after tha end of it all, rushing to train station, meeting Vicky, Amritha, Vik and his friends, and getting back to Brussels and sharing the best moments of teh weekend :)
